On 23rd June Rhenus UK loaded its first consolidated container to Toronto, signifying the start of services to Canada and cementing their new partnership with newly acquired partner ICECORP Logistics.
The service, via Liverpool and Halifax (NS), to Toronto takes 10 days. Once in Toronto goods are cleared and distributed across Canada using ICECORP's in-house customs brokerage and expansive distribution network.
Commenting on the new service Spencer Davern, UK A&O General Manager said, "the effort in establishing the partnership and service and a testament to the commitment shown by representatives of both Rhenus and ICECORP, the feedback received from ICECORP has been extremely complimentary. The new partnership not only provides an excellent opportunity for Rhenus in the UK but for the wider Rhenus network as ICECORP look to develop their relationship further".
The new service comes at an opportune time for companies in both Canada and the UK, coinciding with the anticipated implementation in July of the new CETA* free-trade agreement which confers preferential trade benefits to companies in the UK and Canada (e.g. the waiver of import duty on up to 98% of imported goods into Canada).
